What inspires us to work in video content

Don’t you want to know what makes your colleagues tick? Heck, sometimes we forget what makes us tick! Recently I asked a colleague what first sparked her interest in video content. I was surprised at her response. She knew exactly when it was (she was 11) and she remembered how she felt. I didn’t want to stop there, I spoke to practically everyone and I thought I would share it with you!

What I can’t show you in this blog but I want to tell you is that everyone was smiling as they talked!

Why the team chose to work in video content

Anastasia: “As a kid, we could watch want we wanted and weren’t restricted to “kids content”. I loved American sitcoms like Seinfeld, The Simpsons and Just Shoot Me and movies like Never Been Kissed, Matrix and 10 Things I Hate About You. When I became a teenager, I realised that there were people behind the scenes who made all of this happen!  Once I learnt that, I decided that this is what I was going to do with my life.

Nick: “Watching Shawshank Redemption at University, the end scene and the camera move away from the two friends hugging on the beach. Still one of the most powerful bits of cinema I’ve ever seen and made me want to get in to that creative world one day.”

Ian: “Watching Grandstand every Saturday afternoon with my brother. The build up to sporting events would always get us excited and the adrenalin going!”

Becky: “I was 9 and my dad bought me a video camera for my birthday. The first films I made were stop motion with Plasticine, I loved animated films, in particular films by Pixar. Making films with limited materials I knew that as long as I could make fun stories my limited audience (my parents) would enjoy them.”

Rob M: “Star Wars: A New Hope. I remember the first time I watched it; I was instantly transported into this fantastical world where there were no limits to imagination and storytelling.”

Jack: “It wasn’t until sixth form when I did Media Studies and we were tasked with making our own music video that I first picked up and became interested in being behind a camera. I enjoyed the coursework and got a good grade and from there I think I was inspired to pursue this career path.”

I could either watch it happen or be a part of it- Elon Musk. Find out what inspired some of our team to work in video: http://bit.ly/whyworkinvideo Click To Tweet
