5 Travel Tips from a Global Corporate Video Production Company

Last year our corporate video production company crew filmed in more than 25 countries across 4 continents. Working on location can be exciting and demanding in equal parts. It can feel like there are so many unknown factors to contend with: climate, language, culture. The shoot could well be closer to home but still pose challenges such as parking and site access restrictions. So long as everyone involved embraces change, keeps communication channels open and remains completely focused on the client’s objectives – then there really is nothing to worry about.

If you really want to learn about a country, work there - Charles Kuralt, Journalist Share on X

Part of embracing change is appreciating the environs of the shoot and so we asked seasoned travellers, the Clean Cut crew, for their special memories. Whether you are working or holidaying, here are 5 travel tips we would like to share with you:

  • Montreux, Switzerland: On behalf of Universal Music Advanced Media we have captured Freddie Mercury’s birthday party in Montreux for the past 4 years. This special occasion sees fans come together to celebrate the music, the band Queen and the great man himself. Money raised at the event goes towards The Mercury Phoenix Trust. Every year a Queen tribute act performs the biggest hits for an adoring crowd. Watch a clip here. For tickets and more, visit the charity’s website.
  • Amsterdam, The Netherlands: The A’DAM Toren was built in 2016 as part of the creative regeneration project of Amsterdam North, described by the New York Times as a ‘red hot arts neighbourhood’. This multi functional tower is already taking on iconic status, clearly visible on the skyline of this much loved city. We had the great pleasure of filming pianist Joep Beving in this creative hub, watch a clip of his inspirational shoot. At the tower you can enjoy restaurants (one of them actually revolves!), nightclubs, there is a viewing tower upon which is a giant swing!
  • Monte Carlo, Monaco: You will no doubt beware before you go to Monte Carlo that you are visiting a rich man’s paradise, so expect to pay top dollar for everything – whatever you are thinking, double it! The taxis are of course expensive, but in our opinion, it is far better to put on your comfy shoes and see the sights up close.
  • Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: The Clean Cut Media crew had the unique opportunity to accompany tennis player Elias Ymer when he visited his family in Ethiopia. Whilst there there the  crew discovered the love of coffee that permeates every aspect of life in this beautiful country. The phrase that most summed it up for them was: ‘bona dab naw’ or ‘coffee is our bread’. Kaldi’s Coffee is a super chain of coffee shops but owing to the profound appreciation of coffee, you probably can’t go wrong anywhere.
  • Abbey Road, London: Whether you’re a Londoner or from further afield, we strongly recommend you visit the iconic Abbey Road Studios. We have had the pleasure of filming there on several different occasions, the latest being for new album ‘The Beach Boys with the London Philharmonic Orchestra’. Not only can you cross the famous crossing, you can appear on the live webcam, leave your mark on the graffiti wall and buy memorabilia from the Abbey Road Studio shop.
